5-10 January 2005
The 2005 Conference on Historical and Underwater Archaeology was held in York, England, January 5-10.
see: Original Conference Website

The conference theme of Continuity and Change is designed to highlight the British and European perspective of historical archaeology as part of a continuum of cultural life that has no easily defined break points. Nevertheless, numerous changes have left their mark and many can be seen in the below and above ground heritage of York and its region. York was founded by the Romans and still retains traces of its origins, with numerous medieval, early modern, Georgian and Victorian buildings. Moreover, archaeologically it is also one of the most intensively studied cities in the world, so that the excavated evidence for all periods is extremely rich and varied. The cultural heritage of York is also innovatively displayed in the many museums and historic properties open to the public.
