   Berger Geosciences, B-geO Home, is seeking a Marine Archaeologist with expertise in US offshore archaeology. Applicants should have a good understanding of seafloor marine archaeology with particular expertise in identifying archaeological finds of historical significance, including those in deepwater arenas. Duties will include monitoring offshore archaeological surveys on-board survey vessels uniquely equipped with high-resolution 3D imaging technologies and interpreting the findings of such surveys based on experience. Applicants must be qualified under Federal regulation 36 CFR Part 61. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to document and effectively communicate with onsite and onshore personnel.

MA/MS degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field.

Deepwater expertise preferred.

An M.A. in Anthropology, History or related field (Ph.D. preferred) and extensive experience in CRM project management is required. Experience in the Northeast U.S. is essential.



The Senior Principal Investigator is responsible for the management of multiple and/or multi-disciplinary CRM projects and is involved in the development, maintenance, and management of markets and clients. This position requires expert knowledge of the Section 106 review process and the ability to prepare well organized, thorough CRM documents is essential. Experience with pipeline projects and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission CRM procedure is essential.



Communication skills and an ability to effectively supervise people are a must. Basic computer skills (i.e., word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs) are essential. Other skills that will be given serious consideration include preservation planning, material culture analysis, GIS, statistical/spatial analysis, and floral or faunal analysis.

   The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track position in anthropological archaeology at the rank of assistant professor to begin August 2012. Geographic area and specialty is open, although preference will be given to archaeologists with research interests in the Middle Atlantic Region of the U. S., particularly during the historic era. The JMU anthropology program has a long history of supporting undergraduate research in archaeology. A research agenda that encourages undergraduate student participation and involvement in the field and laboratory is expected. Job Description:

Salve Regina University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Historical Archaeology, starting September 2012, to teach in the University’s undergraduate Cultural and Historic Preservation Program, an associate member of the National Council for Preservation Education. Candidates, in addition to practicing historical North American archaeology, should possess broad experience in the field of Public Archaeology and the intersection of archaeology and historic preservation. Candidates should be familiar with the legal framework of Cultural Resource Management, material culture research, historical documentation of sites and properties, and the application of computer technologies to historic preservation. The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in the history and practice of Archaeology and in Public Archaeology, as well as courses of an interdisciplinary nature which would serve related departments such as American Studies and the core curriculum. Candidates should also possess an enthusiasm for cooperative work with the many cultural agencies which make Newport, Rhode Island a unique place to study and practice Historic Preservation. Candidates interested in developing a regional excavation and research program are preferred.

Requirements:

Requirements include a Ph.D. degree in archaeology, anthropology or another closely related field, a demonstrated record of teaching and research, and a desire to conceptualize and teach courses which will prepare undergraduate students for entry into the preservation field or for admission to graduate school.

Assistant Professor position in Anthropological Archaeology to start August

We seek an anthropological archaeologist specializing in the long-term relation between
human activities and landscapes. Applicants are expected to have a strong orientation
to field-based research, expertise in designing and using large-scale, collaborative
archaeological and environmental data repositories, and the ability to integrate
archaeology with environmental issues. World area is open, but placing long-term
human-environmental interaction in the Southeast in a national and world context is
highly desirable. Experience teaching field school is essential, as is a commitment to
graduate and undergraduate instruction.
The successful candidate will have a solid record or potential for publishing and
obtaining external funding, and have the ability to teach required and specialty courses
at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Their research and teaching should
complement and enhance existing strengths in the anthropology program
(anthropology.uga.edu) yet also engage students and faculty from other relevant
departments at the University of Georgia (uga.edu).
